Woman Smashed Vehicle's Windshield, Drove Off With Small Kids: Ledyard Police

A woman is facing multiple charges after police say she damaged a victim's vehicle then drove away with kids in her car.

LEDYARD, CT — A woman is facing accusations that she smashed a car's windshield and drove off with small children, according to police.

Police responded at 11:45 p.m. Sunday on a report from the victim that the woman had damaged her vehicle.

The victim was involved in a verbal argument with the woman. The woman then smashed the vehicle's front and rear windshield.

The woman, a New London resident, then took small children from the home and drove off, police said. She was "under the influence of an alcoholic beverage" at the time, police said.

New London police later located the woman and arrested her on unrelated charges. She was eventually released and turned over to the custody of the Ledyard Police Department.

She was charged with risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct, second-degree threatening, and second-degree criminal mischief.

Her bond was set at $15,000 and she was scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Monday.
