MADISON, CT - Madison resident Bob Stefanowski took time away from campaigning for governor Tuesday afternoon to cast his ballot in the race.

Stefanowski, a Republican, is according to all polls locked in a tight battle with Democrat Ned Lamont to succeed Democrat Dannel P. Malloy as the state's governor.

There are three other candidates on the ballot, including Independent Oz Griebel, but the race is considered a toss-up between Stefanowski and Lamont.

Before voting in the Republican primary in August Stefanowski hadn’t voted in 16 years. He registered as a Democrat months before switching back to Republican and announcing his run for governor.

He didn’t vote for Republican President Donald Trump because he didn’t vote in 2016.

He said his reason for not voting is he was largely out of the country on business during those years.
