CT Classic Show Choir Festival Brings 2K to Madison
The first annual festival enjoyed an impressive turnout.

More than 2,000 out-of-town visitors descended upon Madison on March 5th for the first annual Connecticut Classic Show Choir Festival. Nineteen show choirs and their fans from throughout the Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts area - and two groups from California - began arriving at 7 am at Daniel Hand High School for the all-day competition. The Connecticut Classic Show Choir Festival marked the first time that Madison has been given the privilege of hosting a major show choir competition. The 2016 Connecticut Classic Show Choir Festival was co-sponsored by VIBE Supporters and the Madison Beach Hotel.
The festival was a huge success and generated significant activity on social media. The competition was divided into morning and afternoon showcases, giving visitors ample time to explore our community and patronize local businesses. Show choir competition rules prohibit a school from competing in any event that they host, but the attendees were treated to an exhibition performance of Daniel Hand High School's VIBE Show Choir, performing this season's award-wining show based on the story of Exodus. The event concluded with a 10:30 pm awards ceremony.
Currently, Daniel Hand's VIBE show choir is the fourth-highest ranked show choir in the nation (www.nationalshowchoirrankings.com).

At Daniel Hand, more than 75 high school students comprise VIBE’s cast, crew and band. This season, VIBE is undefeated, bringing home three Grand Championship Awards and a slew of awards including Best Female Soloist (Nina Stathakis), Best Male Soloist (Cooper Ewald and Sam Kramer), Best Vocals, and Best Choreography, among others. VIBE will compete on March 19th in Orlando, Florida at FAME Regional Show Choir Competition, and hopes to earn the opportunity to compete at FAME National Show Choir Championships at the end of April in Chicago.
VIBE is proud to have the support of the Madison community as they continue their successful climb to national recognition. VIBE Supporters, the 501c3 tax-exempt organization that raises funds for VIBE, is seeking local organizations and businesses to help sponsor the group's trip to the National Championships. Local organizations can contact VIBE Supporters President Michele Daniels at 860-965-2204 or micheledaniels@gmail.com for sponsorship information.
