Madison Board Of Selectmen Hear 4 Proposals For Future Of Academy Building

Board of Selectmen reviewed redevelopment presentations from four developers for the Academy site in Madison.

MADISON, CT — The Madison Board of Selectmen met Jan. 6 and 8 in special sessions at Neck River Elementary School, where members heard formal presentations from four teams vying to redevelop the town’s vacant Academy building.

First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons presided over the meeting, joined by Selectmen Bruce Wilson, Al Goldberg, Scott Murphy and Jennifer Gordon. The agenda focused exclusively on responses to the town’s Academy Expression of Interest, part of a broader process to evaluate potential redevelopment options for the building following a 2025 referendum.

Following that, presenters from Northeast Heritage Partners offered their vision. Information on this proposal can be viewed here.

On the 8th, representatives from Refined Living, Inc. in association with Montagno Construction delivered the first presentation, outlining their concept for the site. Information on the proposal can be viewed here.

The selectmen engaged briefly with each team after their presentations, asking questions about financing, design concepts and timeline assumptions. Resident comments were also taken under the board’s citizen comment period, during which members of the public expressed both support and concerns about redevelopment proposals.

No formal decisions were made at the Jan. 8 session. First Selectwoman Lyons said the board will review the materials in detail, including written responses submitted by all four EOI respondents and the recorded presentations.
