COMMUNITY CLAM/OYSTER DIG, 11am to 2pm, West Wharf, Madison.Â
The Madison Shellfish Commission is proud to announce the first Clam/Oyster Dig event for 2013. Bring the whole family for a fun day of clamming at the West Wharf. Little Neck and Cherrystone Clams will be stocked by the commission and the area is also loaded with Quahog clams. This event will also feature Madison Oysters and Clams that were raised by the Shellfish Commission. A special area will be designated for small children and prizes will be awarded to the lucky individuals that find the painted clams. No experience is required, members of the commission will supply rakes and demonstrate clamming techniques for beginners. Food trucks will also be on site for this event. A shellfish license is required and can be purchased on site at West Wharf on the day of the event. Licences are also sold at the Town Campus and Captain Morgan’s. For out of town visitors, special one day $25 passes will be available on the day of the event at West Wharf.
