Madison Emergency Dispatchers Lauded For 911 Response Time

MADISON, CT — Madison Emergency Communication Center dispatchers were ranked first in the state among 911 call centers for the percentage of such calls that are answered in under 10 seconds, Madison authorities announced.

According to the state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, 99.05 percent of 911 calls in Madison were answered in under 10 seconds for the fourth quarter of 2023, the period measured.

"Our dedicated team is committed to being there for you when seconds count, ensuring you get the help you need as quickly as possible," Madison police officials wrote on Facebook. "This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to safety and excellence in service."

Madison police were quick to say that while they are proud of the accomplishment, people should not use the information to judge other emergency communication centers in the state.

"Some centers are much busier than others, and some operate with only 1 dispatcher on duty," officials said.

But Madison residents should rest easy that if they need help in an emergency, Madison emergency personnel can be reached quickly.
