
On 07-02-2013 the CT State Police, Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit developed information relative to the illegal possession and sale of Display Fireworks (Explosives), and Consumer Fireworks.
This information was passed onto the West Haven Police Department who opened an investigation and began conducting surveillance in the area of 93 Martin Street during the evening hours on 07-02-2013. At approximately 10:30 PM, officers from West Haven Police Department's Street Crime Unit observed a transaction take place and intervened.
Luigio Zaccariello (01-29-1985) of West Haven and Robert Crisco (06-08-1970) of New Haven were detained. Detectives from the CT State Police, Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit, along with the West Haven Fire Marshal responded to the scene to provide technical assistance relative to product identification and relevant charges.
A large quantity of Display Fireworks (Explosives), Consumer Fireworks, and cash ($1,999.00) was seized. During the course the investigation, information was developed which led the investigation team to 197 Hunter's Trail in the town of Madison.
Madison Police and the Madison Fire Marshal were immediately notified and responded. At that address, a large cache of Display Fireworks (Explosives) and Consumer Fireworks was discovered. Madison Police Officers took into custody, Matthew Hagan (02-26-1959).Â
West Haven Police charged Luigio Zaccariello (01-29-1985) of West Haven and Robert Crisco (06-08-1970) of New Haven with multiple felony and misdemeanor Explosives and Fireworks charges. Zaccariello was also charged with 2 counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor and 1 count of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree.
 Madison Police charged Matthew Hagan (02-26-1959) with multiple felony and misdemeanor Explosives and Fireworks charges. He was also charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor and 5 counts of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree.
 The CSP, Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit seized all of the explosives and fireworks. The product was transported to a magazine storage facility pending destruction.
