Madison! Please! Slow Down For Those School Buses! School Starts Wednesday!
Do it for your kids. Do it for your neighbors' kids. Do it and you won't risk getting a big ticket. Do it and Magda, Dawn, Dave, Pauline, Joey, Kelly and the other bus drivers will thank you.

Magda Grayson, the manager for Durham Bus Services in Madison, has a million details to attend to between now and the time the first school bus leaves the depot on Nathan Lane Wednesday morning, the first day of school.
But here's what is on the top of her mind and what she would like to say to everyone who drives in Madison: Please slow down.Â
And ... yellow lights on the bus mean slow way down. And red lights on the bus mean stop.Â
Please remember that and remind your teenage drivers if you have any in the house. Heeding those signals and following the laws when it comes to school buses can avert a tragedy. Breaking those laws not only creates a safety hazard, it can also result in a ticket and a hefty fine.Â
"Kids are crossing the road to get to the bus stops, parents are crossing the road," Grayson said Monday afternoon, as she and a crew in the Durham Bus Services facility on Nathan Lane worked on details relating to the upcoming school year. "Please, please slow down. That is the most important thing. Our students' safety is in our hands, and in your hands."Â
Grayson said she understands that mornings can be hectic, particularly at the beginning of the school year as parents and children get adjusted to new schedules after having had the summer off but, she said, "treat every child waiting for the bus and on the bus as if it were  your child."Â
