Preparations Underway For Madison's 200th Anniversary

The town is celebrating the same year as the 250th anniversary of the United States.

MADISON, CT — The Town of Madison will celebrate its 200th anniversary this year, the same year as the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, and preparations are underway locally for the milestones.

The Madison 200|America 250 committee has been charged with creating commemorative events and activities throughout the year, in celebration of the anniversaries, according to First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons.

"The Town recently sent out a postcard to all residents that contains a preview of upcoming events, and provides information on how to make a tax deductible contribution to support the celebration via the Madison Foundation," Lyons wrote in a recent community update. "Please help us make our bicentennial celebration a success by making a generous, tax deductible donation now to fund a range of planned celebratory activities and events."
