Security Camera Request Approved For Madison Police: Report
The license plate readers will be used to help fight vehicle thefts.

MADISON, CT — Madison police will receive new license plate reading security cameras to help fight vehicle thefts, following recent approval of an $80,000 request to fund the effort.
The Shoreline Times reports that 35 vehicles were stolen in Madison in 2023, a staggering jump from nine reported vehicle thefts in 2022, according to authorities.
Additionally, another 59 vehicles were reportedly broken into in 2023, up from 39 the previous year.

The cameras will be placed in various locations in Madison. Police will receive the funding from the town's American Rescue Plan Act grant.
