Wind Topples Tree On Nortontown Road In Madison; Tornado Destroys Sports Bubble In East Windsor

CL&P arrives on Nortontown Road about 1:30 p.m. More than 880 customers in Madison fully restored by 2:30 p.m., company says.


A tree, which may have been blown down by a wind gust, knocked down power lines on Nortontown Road in Madison early Monday afternoon. 

CL&P arrived with a tree crew around 1:30 p.m. and worked to clear the tree from the lines, before restoring power. Police closed down Nortontown Road by the intersection with Green Hill Road, near the exit ramp form I-95.

CL&P officials said  881 CL&P customer were affected for about an hour, and that power was fully restored by 2:30 p.m.  

Elsewhere in the state, there were tornado warnings in Fairfield, Litchfield, and Hartford counties on Monday afternoon.

Near East Windsor and Windsor Locks, two lanes of southbound I-91 were blocked after the roof of the East Windsor Sports World bubble blew onto the highway during Monday afternoon's severe wind and rainstorm, Windsor Locks Patch is reporting.
