MANCHESTER, CT — The milk business was once a big business in Manchester, especially when the town was much smaller and the supermarket and massive convenience store was unheard of.

The Manchester Historical Society recently shared a listing of Milk dealers from the 1917 town directory.

The population of Manchester back then was an estimated 14,956, historians tell us, based on the 1910 census number of 13,641 and the 1920 census number of 18,370.
