Whether you love dogs, great food, supporting local businesses or all three, the 4th Annual Taste of Manchester is for you. The event brings hundreds of people to over 20 participating locally owned and operated one-of-a-kind restaurants in greater downtown Manchester. With affordable ticket prices, free and stylish transportation, a feast of food, and proceeds that benefit a new dog park, The Taste of Manchester is a true community celebration that offers something for everyone.The 4th Annual Taste of Manchester will be held on Tuesday, May 14th from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., rain or shine, ending with a celebration at The Army Navy Club of Manchester. Thank you to all who volunteered their time to the event! All volunteer shifts are now filled!“Your ticket brings you the tastes of over 20 local eateries and caterers,” said event co-chair Dennis Reinholt. Here is a small sample of the selection of food to choose from: eggplant rollatini, a variety of sliders, oysters on the half shell, pulled pork, chocolate chip cookie pie, and so much more. Be one of the first to try the new drink named the Manchester Mule being introduced by Onyx Spirits at some of the particpating restaurants. We’ve said it the last three years and we can say it again, “you won’t go home hungry”.And if you like to cook or just collect cookbooks, be sure to check out the selection of cookbooks the Manchester Historical Society will have available for purchase at The Amy Navy Club.“Ticket holders may enjoy samplings from several restaurants. Take the Abbey Road Transportation limobus between the participating Main Street and Hartford Road/Charter Oak Street restaurants. Finish up at The Army Navy Club with desserts and door prizes.”Ticket prices, are the same as last year – $20 for adults and $12 for kids ages 3 to 12 years old (children under 3 are free). Tickets are limited and on sale now at www.tasteofmanchesterct.com through PayPal and in person at the Customer Service & Information Center on the first floor of Manchester Town Hall. Note that tickets purchased after May 6 on PayPal will NOT be mailed but instead will be available at the will-call table at the Army-Navy Club on May 14.“The variety of appetizer, entrée and dessert offerings will be amazing and entertainment and prizes will make 2013 even better than previous years,” said event co-chair Sharon Hebert. She reminded attendees, “pace yourselves, you certainly won’t leave hungry!” Door prizes include gift certificates from local businesses, gift baskets and autographed posters donated by the UConn Athletic Department.Several locations will also showcase bands in addition to their delicious food. The Mass-Conn-Fusion Jazz Duo will be at the Army Navy Club, and Johnny Mainstream will be at the Tiger. Stamps the Goat and The Guinea Pigs will be featured at MCC on Main.We will also be holding a food drive this year during the Taste of Manchester event at The Army Navy Club to benefit MACC. Increase your chances in winning one of the great door prizes by donating canned food items to the food bank being collected at The Army Navy Club and in return you’ll be given a ticket for the door prizes.
