"5 Things You Need to Know..." About Manchester Patch's Week

News and information, busyness winter, etc. It was another week for the indefatigable, with highlights.

Another busy week here at Manchester Patch. But, for a refreshing change, not so much snow. 

But still plenty of highlights: 

1. , who has taught third grade in the Manchester School System for 35 years, has announced her retirement at the end of the year. It's not uncommon for a teacher to retire, but it is uncommon for a teacher who just received the school system's Teacher of the Year to do so. Lavey will no doubt be missed by many.

2. Superintendent Kathleen Ouellette named an interim principal at Manchester High School this week. , a veteran educator and administrator with 40 years of experience working in the Plainville School District as a teacher, athletic director and principal, will run the high school through the end of the current school year. 

3. Bullying. Unfortunately, it's a problem that many parents, and their children, will have to contend with. A at Manchester Memorial Hospital this past week aimed to inform parents on what to do if their child should fall victim to bullying.

4. Check out the at Manchester Patch (it's a lot of people shoveling, plowing and attempting to clean up snow). 

5. And what began as an attempt to try and find a more convenient place for the Manchester Hight School indoor tract teams to practice has spiraled into an effort to try and establish a permanent in town. But it remains to be seen if, when, where, or for how much such a facility would be built.
