Board of Directors to Consider $12.5 Million Library Expansion Tonight
The proposal would see a 10,000-square foot wing added onto the Mary Cheney Library.

When the Board of Directors meets tonight, one of the items on its agenda - and perhaps the most notable - will be the at the cost of an estimated $12.5 million.
for some time now, with preservationists arguing that any expansion would encroach into Center Memorial Park, while advocates of the expansion argue that the town's libraries are woefully inadequate to meet the proven demand. Several committees have been appointed to address the issue, and eventually settled on a 10,000-square foot expansion that would see an annex connected to the existing building, while attempting to minimize the impact on the park itself. The Board of Directors is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. tonight in the Lincoln Center Hearing Room, 494 Main St. The board's agenda can be viewed here.
