CONNECTICUT — The store at the Buckland Hills mall in Manchester is one of three Connecticut J.C. Penney properties expected to go on the market next month.

The local store is part of real estate giant Newmark's plans to offer a portfolio of 120 J.C. Penneys as the new year starts, according to a report by CoStar. Newmark referred searches on the sale to the CoStar web site. The sale is expected to garner more than $1 billion, according to the report.

The properties being offered make up 15.86 million square feet spanning 34 states, according to an accompanying chart. The three in Connecticut are J.C. Pennys at:

  • The Shoppes at Buckand Hills in Manchester (128,643 square feet)
  • Westfarms mall in Farmington (98,280 square feet)
  • Danbury Fair Mall in Danbury (136,375 square feet)

The Newmark listing is on behalf of Copper Property CTL Pass Through Trust, the entity formed in the wake of J.C. Penney's 2020 bankruptcy proceedings.

The average store size in the portfolio is 132,000 square feet, according to the report.
