Car Bursts Into Flames On Highway In Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — A car burst into flames on a stretch of highway in Manchester Monday night, fire officials said.

The incident occurred on the eastbound side of Interstate 84 at Exit 63.

When Manchester Fire's Engine 7 and Engine 6 arrived, they encountered, "a well-involved auto fire," officials said.

The fire was caused by mechanical failure, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The right two lanes of the highway were shut down for a brief period until the fire was extinguished and the vehicle was removed.
