The State Police utilized aircraft, unmarked patrol vehicles, and additional manpower to increase public safety to the highways and secondary roads of our state, according to a press release.For the purposes of reporting the statistics for the Labor Day holiday weekend, the "weekend" began on Friday 08/29/2014 at 12:01 A.M. through Monday 09/01/2014 at 11:59 PM. The following are the FINAL stats for the 2014 Labor Day weekend:1,727 speeding violation 200 seat belt violations 3,720 other hazardous moving violations (cell phone, follow too close, etc.) 35 driving while under the influence 315 total accidents 33 with injury 1 fatality in Chaplin, CT. NOTE: The death at Lime Rock Race Track is not considered to be road fatal but untimely death.2013 totals Speeding: 1,513 Seatbelt: 231 Other hazardous: 3,513 DUI: 50 Accidents: 259 44 with injury 3 Fatal
