Connecticut State Police Hand Out 5,000 Tickets Labor Day Weekend
There were 315 accidents, one fatal, and 35 driving while under the influence citations.

During the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Connecticut State Police anticipated heavier than normal weekend traffic. The State Police utilized aircraft, unmarked patrol vehicles, and additional manpower to increase public safety to the highways and secondary roads of our state, according to a press release.
For the purposes of reporting the statistics for the Labor Day holiday weekend, the “weekend” began on Friday 08/29/2014 at 12:01 A.M. through Monday 09/01/2014 at 11:59 PM. The following are the FINAL stats for the 2014 Labor Day weekend:
1,727 speeding violation
200 seat belt violations
3,720 other hazardous moving violations (cell phone, follow too close, etc.)
35 driving while under the influence
315 total accidents
33 with injury
1 fatality in Chaplin, CT. NOTE: The death at Lime Rock Race Track is not considered to be road fatal but untimely death.
