East Catholic Names Fiori Head Baseball Coach
The announcement simply removes the "interim" from Fiori's title, who coached the team this past season.

has announced that has been appointed head varsity baseball coach.
Fiori, a graudte of East Catholic's Class of 1990, was appointed to the interim position for the 2012 season with the retirement of long time Coach . Coach Fiori will be the third varsity baseball coach in East Catholic’s 50 year history.
As interim Coach Fiori led the Eagles to an 8-12 regular season and through the quarterfinal game of the State Class S Tournament. Prior to the interim role, Fiori coached 9 years as assistant to Penders and prior to that coached American Legion baseball in East Hartford.

After graduating from East Catholic High School in 1990, Fiori continued his baseball career at Keene State College with Coach Ken Howe. Fiori is the owner of Blasting Techniques Inc. in South Windsor.
Fiori said after his appointment, “I am proud and honored to be the third Head Baseball Coach in East Catholic’s 50 year history (Don Burns started Eagles Baseball in 1962 and Jim Penders took over in 1969). We have a stable and rich baseball tradition here at East. I am fully committed to our student athletes and will work passionately to help them succeed both on and off the field. East Catholic is a great place to be a part of and I am fortunate to be surrounded by good kids who give an outstanding effort every day. That alone makes them champions. I am grateful to Principal Hartling and Athletic Director Tom Malin for having the confidence in me to lead the Eagles on the Diamond.”

Tom Malin, Athletic Director said, “it’s always great to see an alum return and be in a position to give back to our school community. I know Coach Fiori will work to develop our student athletes on and off the field.”
Announcing the appointment, Jason Hartling, principal and chief administrator stated, “From the day Coach Penders announced his retirement East Catholic has received a significant number of resumes for the position. After observing Coach Fiori this past season, talking with players and their parents it was clear the right person was already part of the East Family. Coach Fiori is the right man to carry on the tradition of excellence that East Catholic Baseball has been known for.”
Former East Catholic player and long time assistant coach Mark McMahon will remain with the program.
Coach McMahon said of Fiori, “he is absolutely the right man for the position. East Catholic is lucky to have him.”
