Man Facing Child Neglect, Drug Charges Related To DUI, Overdose Incident In Bolton: Police

BOLTON, CT — A Windham man is facing neglect and drug charges connected with an passed-out motorist incident last month in Bolton, state police said.

On Wednesday, state police from Troop K in Colchester located and arrested Nicholas Ninteau 38, of Windham, on the strength of an active warrant that stemmed from an investigation in June of 2025, when two people were located unconscious in the parking lot of a restaurant on Boston Turnpike in Bolton, authorities said.

According to a warrant, investigators determined that the occupants were experiencing a drug overdose, and "life-saving measures were successfully deployed." Investigators determined that Ninteau was also driving under the influence at the time of the incident, according to a warrant.

The vehicle was running and in drive with Ninteau's foot applying pressure on the brake pedal, according to a warrant. A troop[er was able to get the car door open with the help of a bystander, and it was placed into park and the ignition was turned off, according to a warrant.

Rotting fast-food chicken tenders and cheeseburgers and crack cocaine, possibly laced with something stronger, were located in the vehicle, according to a warrant.

The investigation also determined that Ninteau had two children with him who were not properly secured in car seats, according to a warrant. Both children were located outside the vehicle in the parking lot after having let themselves out of the vehicle, according to a warrant.

Ninteau was transported to Troop K, where he was chArged with:

  • Transporting a child younger than 5 Years and less than 40 pounds without restraint
  • Transporting a child younger than 8 amnd less than 60 pounds without restraint
  • Driving under the influence with a child passenger
  • Possession of a controlled Substance
  • Risk of injury to child (six counts)
  • Leaving a child younger than 12 unsupervised in a public place or motor vehicle (two counts)

The state Department of Children and Families initially cared for the children, who were eventually placed into the care of a relative, according to a warrant.

Ninteau failed to post a $55,000 bond at his Thursday arraignment in Rockville Superior Court is due back before a judge on July 31, judicial system records show.
