Opening night in Manchester was spoiled by East Hartford's one-hitter thrown by Alan Schiff. The brightest part of the evening was the opening ceremony and a visit from . East Hartford erupted for 10 runs in their half of the third inning, using two hit batters, five walks and a Manchester error. Manchester's only hit came in the fourth inning, on a Chris Dibble lead off single. That would be Manchester's best chance of the game, as with bases loaded, Nolan Cardwell struck out to end the threat. Manchester's Manraj Sandhu took the loss for Manchester, and is now 1-1 in Zone 8 play.
