Manchester Firefighters Compete in American Lung Association's Stair Climb Competition
Manchester firefighters recently raised $800 for the American Lung Association.

A team of five Manchester firefighters sprinted up 36 flights of stairs Saturday at the Hartford 21 highrise for charity as part of the American Lung Association's Stair Climb competition.Â
The team of five firefighters from the Manchester Fire, Rescue and EMS Department – Joe Fawley, Dan Heald, Marty Weimann, Bryan Goulet, Ray Marconi – raised over $800 for the American Lung Association.Â
Stamford firefighters brought home the gold medal for the fastest firefighter team. The event featured over 600 participants and 24 firefighter teams. Participating firefighters ascended the 36 stories in full firefighter personal protective equipment – all 50 pounds of it! – while wearing and breathing from self-contained breathing apparatus.
