ELLINGTON, CT — A Manchester man is has been charged with first-degree forgery in a case of checks stolen from a business in Ellington and then altered, state police said.

Justin Breault, 40, has also been charged with criminal attempt at fifth-degree larceny, records show.

The checks were taken from Cryogenics Systyems in Ellington, police said.

The checks were drawn from the company account, but the names on them were changed, according to a warrant.

One of them was for $1,586 and was attempted to be cashed by Breault on March 5, according to a warrant.

Several others were traced to Breault by surveillance systems and investigations by detectives, according to a warrant.
