Manchester Residents Asked to Conserve Water

Limited rainfall has resulted in low reservoir levels.

The city of Manchester is asking residents to cut back on water use due to a lack of rain, NBC Connecticut reports.

The city’s said in a letter Friday that reservoirs have dropped to 80 percent of their capacity, and residents are asked to take shorter showers, turn off water while washing hands, shaving and brushing teeth, and to water lawns sparingly. Any unnecessary use of water is discouraged.

The water department is monitoring the reservoirs. Officials may implement a drought emergency plan if the situations worsens, meaning mandatory use restriction would be enacted.
