Manchester Woman Arrested in Child Physical Abuse Case

A 24-year-old Manchester woman is facing charges after an 18-month-old was injured.
On Wednesday at approximately 11 a.m., Vernon Police Detectives arrested Quandasia Nashay Hansley, of 70 Imperial Dr., Apt. L in Manchester, at her apartment on an arrest wrrant that charged her with cruelty to persons, third-degree assault, and risk of injury to a minor.
The arrest warrant stems from an investigation which began on June 19 when doctors at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford notified Vernon police and the CT Department of Children and Families that they were treating an 18-month-old boy who had sustained significant bruising and abrasions on his neck and torso.

Vernon detective investigated the incident, along with DCF and determined the toddler sustained his injuries while in the overnight care of the accused. The incident occurred in an apartment at the Dobb’s Crossing Apartment Complex, located at 1170 Hartford Tpke. in Vernon.
The 18-month-old victim was hospitalized for two days and was released to a family member. His injuries were non-life threatening.

Hansley was in a dating relationship with the child’s mother when this incident occurred.
Hansley is being held in lieu of her $25,000 court set bond and is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on Thursday.
