Olympic Bronze Medalist Commits To 2025 Manchester Road Race
The elite field is now even more elite for the 89th Manchester Road Race.

MANCHESTER, CT — Olympic bronze medalist Jenny Simpson has committed to run in the 89th edition of the Manchester Road Race.
Race officials made the announcement Tuesday.
Simpson, 39, of Boulder, CO, won the bronze medal in the 1,500 meters at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. A three-time Olympian, she also won the 1,500 meters at the 2011 World Championships and was the silver medalist in that event at the 2013 and 2017 World Championships.

Simpson was an All-American runner at the University of Colorado. Although best known for her achievements on the track in the 1,500 meters (a personal best of 3:57.22) and the 3,000-meter steeplechase (a personal best of 9:12.50), Simpson compiled an accomplished record in all long-distance events. She has run the half marathon in 1:10:35 and the marathon in 2:31:39.
Recently retired from the competitive track circuit, Simpson is currently on a running tour of the United States ("Run USA") with her husband, marathoner Jason Simpson. They are celebrating the sport of distance running with local running communities by competing in road races in all 50 states.

This will be the first Manchester appearance for both Simpsons.
The 89th Manchester Road Race is set for 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, (Nov. 27 this year). The 4.737-mile race, which annually attracts thousands of runners —including some of the world's best long-distance athletes — starts and finishes on Main Street, in front of St. James Church.
