Police Seize 98 Pounds of Pot, Gun Used in Homicide

Two Manchester residents were arrested — one on murder charges.

A murder investigation led police Thursday to a Manchester apartment, where they discovered a large cache of drugs, cash and a gun used in a homicide in Hartford.

The two residents of the apartment — Deranna Fletcher, 28, and Shanique Jones Tabios, 28 — were arrested on multiple drug-related charges. Fletcher was also later charged in relation to the murder in Hartford.

The search warrant was executed Jan. 30 by members of the East Central Narcotics Task Force and Hartford Police, with assistance from Manchester officers, in apartment 15224 of the Aspen Woods Apartments on Buckland Street.

Fletcher was charged with:

  • Possession of more than four ounces of marijuana
  • Operating a drug factory
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of marijuana with intent to sell
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia 1,500 feet of a school
  • Possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school
  • Criminal possession of a firearm

He was held on a $750,000 bond, and then turned over to Hartford Police.

According to the Hartford Courant, Fletcher shot and killed Mark McNickle, 33, on Jan. 15. He was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and criminal possession of a firearm in relation to that crime, The Courant reports.

Tabios was held on a $750,000 bond.

As a result of the search, police seized the following items:

  • Approximately 98 pounds of marijuana (with an estimated street value of $490,000)
  • Marijuana packaging material and paraphernalia
  • $39,867.64 in cash
  • A Smith & Wesson Revolver used in a recent homicide in the City of Hartford
  • A 2010 Toyota Camry
  • A 2007 Audi A6
  • Several televisions and computers
