Residents And Pets Escape, Firefighters Hurt In Manchester Home Blaze

MANCHESTER, CT — Two firefighters were hurt and a family and its pets were able to get out safe in a house fire in Manchester Tuesday.

The fire broke out at at 9:44 a.m. at 75 Steep Hollow Lane, officials said.

The first arriving crew was met with heavy fire in the home.

Three residents managed to escape the flames and one was transported to a local hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation, fire officials said. A dog and two cats were also rescued from the house.

Manchester firefighters responded with six companies, ultimately bringing the fire under control within approximately 40 minutes, officials said.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were being evaluated Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The residents were being helped by the American Red Cross and the Manchester Fire Marshal's office is investigating the origin and cause.
