HARTFORD, CT — State Rep. Geoff Luxenberg (D-Manchester) has been appointed assistant deputy speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives by Speaker of the House Matt Ritter.

The announcement was made Monday.

In the leadership role, Luxenberg will preside over the House of Representatives during sessions when the Speaker is absent from the chamber, guiding legislative debates and proceedings.

"It is an honor to be appointed Assistant Deputy Speaker of the House, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure a fair and productive legislative session," Luxenberg said. “Thank you to Speaker Ritter for his trust in me as part of his leadership team."

Said Ritter, "Geoff will bring his legislative experience and policy knowledge to his important roles as an Assistant Deputy Speaker and one of the chief architects of HB 5002, which will focus on housing reform and policies to address homelessness. "I look forward to working with him in these roles."

Luxenberg represents the 12th House District, which includes Manchester.
