Tropical Storm Henri's Expected Impacts To Northern CT Increase
The powerful storm is tracking closer to Connecticut and the impacts are expected to increase this weekend and on Monday.
NORTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Tropical Storm Henri's expected impacts to Hartford, Tolland and Windham county later this weekend and continuing into Monday.
"Tropical Storm Henri is forecast to track near Narragansett Bay and into southern New England Sunday into Monday. There is the potential for damaging winds, flooding rainfall, and storm surge flooding," the weather service said.
"Tropical Storm Henri is forecast to strengthen to a hurricane as it heads northward today, and is expected to make landfall near Newport RI Sunday evening, possibly as a Category 1 hurricane. Henri will weaken rapidly after landfall but will exit the region slowly through Monday. The main hazards include damaging winds, flooding rain, and storm surge flooding."

WTNH News 8 chief meteorologist Gil Simmons said the "future hurricane looks like it wants to track a lot closer to Connecticut for Sunday! ... We could be looking at hurricane conditions developing between 3 AM and 8 AM Sunday morning and going all the way into Sunday night! Now is the time to review your plan!"
