Two Men Charged with Responding to Craigslist Ad for Laptop by Stealing It

The two men met up with the seller at a McDonald's restaurant, assaulted him and stole the computer, police said.

A Manchester man who was trying to sell a laptop on Craigslist met two men at a McDonald’s, where one ran off with the laptop and the other assaulted the seller, police said, according to a report in the Hartford Courant.

And now police say they’ve arrested the two men.

Lyman Depriest, 18, of West Haven and Pentecost Asoh, 19, of New Haven, showed up when the seller agreed to meet the buyer in McDonald’s at 144 Deming St., according to the report, which cited Manchester police for its information.

Depriest pretended to examine the laptop, but then ran off with it as Asoh tripped the seller and put him in a choke hold, the newspaper said. The victim had a separated shoulder and facial injuries as a result.

Both men were charged with second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny. Asoh was also charged with third-degree assault and was arrested last week. Depriest was arrested Wednesday.
