What is the Unemployment Rate in Manchester?

New statistics from the state Department of Labor show unemployment rates for every town in Connecticut.

By and large the state’s unemployment rate continues to drop.

Through the end of May, the state’s unemployment rate is at 5.6 percent as 106,600 members of the state’s 1.918 million workforce are currently without a job, according to the state Department of Labor.

Some towns with the lowest unemployment rate include: Sharon at 2.8 percent, Canaan, 2.9 percent, Roxbury, 3.1 percent, Tolland, 3.5 percent, Granby, 3.6 percent, Canton, 3.6 percent, Easton, 3.8 percent, and Fairfield at 3.8 percent.

Conversely, towns with the highest unemployment rate include: Hartford, 10.3 percent, Bridgeport, 8.7 percent, New London, 8.4 percent, East Hartford, 7.2 percent, Meriden, 7.1 percent, West Haven, 6.8 percent, and Naugatuck, 6.5 percent.

Manchester’s current unemployment rate is 5.3 percent as 1,763 residents are currently unemployed out of a labor force of 33,141.
