Police Search Natchaug State Forest For Missing Woman

The public is being asked to avoid the area during the search.

CONNECTICUT — A search is underway in Natchaug State Forest for a missing woman, according to police.

Police said they are searching for Anne Marie Pappalardo, 61, of Mansfield, who has been missing since Sunday.

Police described her as white, with brown hair and green eyes. She is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighs 150 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black vest, black leggings, and brown boots.

All hunters, anglers, hikers and park patrons are being asked to avoid the forest until further notice, according to Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police.

“If you are approached by State Police or EnCon search personnel in the vicinity of the forest, you will be ordered to leave the area immediately,” officials said, in an announcement. “Your cooperation is essential to the success of this critical operation.”

If people are in the woods, it is harder for K9 teams to search, police said.

Natchaug State Forest is in the northeastern corner of the state, in the towns of Eastford, Chaplin and Hampton.

Conservation police, Connecticut State Police and other search and rescue personnel are assisting in the effort.
