Shooting Suspect Is Arrested

The 17-year-old victim remains in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head.

A 19-year-old is in custody on charges stemming from the Nov. 10 shooting that has left another teen in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head.

Connecticut State Police obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect on Nov. 17 and arrested him during a motor vehicle stop later in the day in New London, according to a state police statement.

The suspect is identified as Jeremy McGeowan of 63 Windham Center Rd., in Windham, the address where the victim, identified as Wesley Rodriguez, 17, of 178 North St., Willimantic, was found. State police were dispatched to the address after receiving a report that there was a drive-by shooting.

Police now say their investigation revealed there wasn’t a drive-by shooting. However, details of the shooting and how McGeowan became a suspect were not released.

McGeowan was charged with first-degree assault, stealing a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree false statement, interring with an officer, tampering with evidence and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
