WINDHAM, CT — Windham Hospital stopped delivering babies in June 2020 — and now, the state's Office of Health Strategy has fined Hartford Healthcare $65,000 for failing to file the required documentation before ending deliveries, the Hartford Courant reported.

The OHS alleged the health system "intentionally skirted rules" by stopping deliveries two months before applying for a certificate of need, which is required to permanently close a maternity ward, the Courant said.

Hartford HealthCare was fined $65,000 — $1,000 for each affected day, the Courant reported.
