A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a killing in Meriden.

MERIDEN, CT — Gov. Ned Lamont has authorized a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the death of Francisco J. Huertas in Meriden in 2019, New Haven State’s Attorney John P. Doyle Jr. and Meriden Police Chief Roberto Rosado announced Monday.

Huertas was fatally shot outside of an Allen Avenue home in Meriden on Aug. 11, 2019.

“An intensive investigation was conducted by the Meriden Police Department with the assistance of the State of Connecticut Division of Scientific Services Forensic Science Laboratory,” officials wrote in a news release from the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice. “Meriden Police have devoted countless hours and resources to the investigation and continue to vigorously pursue any leads. Doyle filed an application with Lamont for the authorization of a $50,000 reward.

“State’s Attorney Doyle and Chief Rosado believe that the new reward amount will renew public interest and awareness of the tragic death of Mr. Huertas, and that individuals with information will be prompted to come forward,” officials wrote. “The public is advised not to underestimate the significance of what they may know and not to assume that law enforcement must already possess that information. Sometimes a small piece of information may be what investigators need to solve a case and achieve a successful prosecution.”
