Car Stolen From Wallingford Crashes Into House: Meriden Police

Three male juveniles were charged, and the home did sustain significant damage as a result of the crash, police said.

MERIDEN, CT — A vehicle stolen out of Wallingford crashed into a home in Meriden, police said.

At 12:45 p.m. Friday, police responded to the area of Harrison Street at Elm Street for the report of a motor vehicle that had crashed into a house, police said. Upon arrival, investigation revealed that the car that struck the home had been stolen out of Wallingford earlier on Friday, police said.

Prior to striking the house, the driver of the stolen vehicle struck another vehicle that had been traveling on Elm Street, police said. That driver sustained minor injuries, police said.

"The stolen vehicle fled south on Elm Street after striking the other vehicle and traveled through the intersection of Elm Street at Harrison Street without stopping," police said in a news release. "In doing so it traveled across Harrison Street and struck the home on the other side of the intersection. The driver of the stolen car as well as two other occupants fled the scene on foot."

A perimeter was set up between patrol officers and detectives and a K-9 track was conducted, police said. All three male juveniles were taken into custody, police said.

The home that was struck was occupied at the time of the crash; however, nobody inside was injured, police said. The home did sustain significant damage as a result of the crash, police said.

All three juveniles were taken into custody and charges ranging from interfering, reckless endangerment, larceny (Motor Vehicle), and conspiracy to commit larceny as well as numerous other motor vehicle charges have been charged, police said. Two of the three juveniles will be released to their parents, while the driver will be admitted to a juvenile detention center, police added.
