Convicted Felon Arrested On Gun Charges After Traffic Stop: Meriden Police

A convicted felon was recently arrested on gun charges in connection with an incident at Hubbard Park in Meriden, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A convicted felon was recently arrested on gun charges in connection with an incident at Hubbard Park in Meriden in April, according to police.

Police responded around 7 p.m. on April 14 to a report of a fight at Hubbard Park at 999 West Main St., according to police.

It was reported that a person involved in the confrontation was in the possession of a gun, police said.

The people involved in the confrontation left Hubbard Park before officers arrived, according to police.

Police said officers conducted two separate traffic stops on the vehicles that contained the people involved with the incident.

A stolen .357 Magnum Revolver was found in the trunk of one of the vehicles, according to police.

The gun was found to have been reported stolen by the Largo Police Department in Florida, according to police.

Police said an investigation found that Osvaldo Rivera was in control of the gun. Rivera is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms, according to police.

Rivera was arrested Sept. 12 on a warrant and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was held in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
