MERIDEN, CT — A dog was found dead in a garbage bag in the area of the dog park near Hicks Avenue in Meriden on Wednesday morning, according to officials.
A good Samaritan who was walking his dog outside of the dog park at Beavers Pond found the dog stuffed in a garbage bag floating near the shore, according to the Meriden Animal Control.
The animal control shared a description of the dog in case anyone can provide information that can “lead us to justice or at least closure!” according to a post on the Meriden Animal Control-Saving Paws Facebook page.

“Medium sized, Medium length chocolate brown hair, fluffy tail, white on chest and paws with a few freckles and some white around the muzzle,” officials wrote in the post. “Brown nose and brown eyes. Intact male, likely a young adult. He was wearing a collar with no tags and we were not able to locate a microchip. He is a mixed breed, approximately 40 pounds.
“We understand accidents happen and he could've escaped and been killed by the nearby train or a passing car, but disposing of any being in this way is simply unacceptable.”
