Man Charged In Carjacking, Armed Robbery Of Restaurant: Meriden PD

The man was arrested in connection with a carjacking at gunpoint and the armed robbery of a restaurant in Meriden, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A man has been charged in connection with a carjacking and an armed robbery of Domino’s Pizza restaurant in Meriden last November, according to police.

Members of the Meriden Police Patrol Division, Crime Suppression Unit, and various units within the detective division initiated an investigation into a series of armed robberies that occurred on the west side of the city in November, according to Lt. Darrin McKay.

McKay said the first incident involved a carjacking at gunpoint, and the second was an armed robbery at the Domino’s Pizza restaurant on West Main Street.

“Utilizing various investigative techniques, detectives determined that both robberies were connected and allegedly committed by the same suspect,” according to McKay.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Keondre Ward, McKay said.

Members of the Crime Suppression Unit obtained two arrest warrants for Ward in connection with each robbery, according to McKay.

Ward was incarcerated on unrelated robbery charges when the warrants were served, McKay said.

Ward was arrested May 30 on two counts of first-degree robbery, and one count each of third-degree larceny and larceny of a motor vehicle. He was being held in lieu of bonds totaling $300,000 with a court date of June 18, according to state judicial records.
