Man Threatened Child, Gets Arrested: Meriden Police

A man has been arrested in connection with threats made against a child, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A man has been arrested in connection with threats made against a child, according to police.

Jeffrey Alverado, 38, was arrested by the Meriden Police Department’s Special Crimes and Crime Suppression Unit following an investigation into an incident involving threats made toward a child, according to police.

Police said the investigation began in July.

Alverado was charged with first-degree threatening and risk of injury to a child. He was held in lieu of a $150,000 bond.

“We at the Meriden Police Department are wholeheartedly committed to protecting children,” police wrote in a news release. “We understand the impact of these crimes and we work with partner agencies to help provide services to the affected victims and their families. We appreciate the victim’s bravery and cooperation in this case which likely resulted in the prevention of future crimes against children. It is the policy of the Meriden Police Department to fully investigate every allegation of crimes against children that is brought to our organization.”
