Occupation:
Executive Director - Boys & Girls Club of Meriden
Family:
Yes, I am a proud father of three adult children aged 28, 25, and 21.
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
I've been fortunate to represent Meriden as a councilor for the past 13 years.
Why are you seeking this office?
In the 13 years I’ve had the privilege of representing Meriden, I’ve taken a pragmatic approach to decision making, always keeping taxpayers in mind. I’ve supported economic development by prioritizing strong schools and public safety both essential to attracting new businesses and future homeowners to our community.
Politics have become increasingly polarizing over the past decade, but I believe it’s possible to invest in our community while still being fiscally responsible. As a homeowner myself, I understand the importance of balancing progress with affordability.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ensuring they can afford to live in a safe and stable community. Rising costs and economic uncertainty make it more important than ever to balance responsible spending with investments which keep our neighborhoods secure and our city thriving. I intend to continue to apply common sense to all my decisions as I've done in the past 13 years.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I am always willing to engage in conversations with those who may see things differently, to better understand their perspectives before making important decisions. I've also volunteered thousands of hours in Meriden making a positive impact on future generations.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Other areas that need to be addressed include reducing blight throughout our community and improving our roads and sidewalks.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Over the past 13 years, we’ve worked hard to keep budget increases under control while still making meaningful investments in our community. We’ve built two beautiful, state of the art high schools that provide our students with the tools they need to succeed, and we continue to revitalize our downtown area to attract new businesses and residents.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
The best advice I’ve ever received is to always do everything to the best of your ability and never be afraid to make mistakes. You often learn more from the times you fall short of your goals than from the times you achieve them.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I love my community, and I serve in this position for one simple reason, it gives me the opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
