We asked Patch Readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

  • "People speeding and being distracted by their phones! Bring back speed bumps!!"
  • "One of the top things that I notice is not stopping at stop signs. I've almost been in so many accidents at the 4-way intersection by my house because of people going right through without stopping."
  • "The shootings. Gotta take control of gangs in Meriden. More police coverage."
  • "The shootings I have two babies that I am scared to take out for a ride to the store because of these shootings that God forbid could hit one of us randomly!"
  • "Drug dealers and shootings."
  • "Drugs and crime. Where is the police presence?"
  • "The shootings, robberies, and availability of drugs to kids."
  • "Well I wouldn't say this is the biggest safety issue, but its certainly one that could be prevented. Not all intersections have stop signs or indication that opposing traffic does not stop. This is just negligent and clearly very dangerous for everyone involved."
  • "The mayor who is turning a blind eye to the shootings. 5 since April 10th"

Is there a problem that wasn’t mentioned? Share it with us in the comments below or on our Meriden Patch Facebook page.
