Obituary: Mary T. Rys, 59, of Meriden
Mary, a dedicated employee of the Wallingford Stop and Shop for many years, cherished her family, friends and her dog, Deacon.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Mary T. Rys, 59, of Meriden, longtime companion of Gerald Anziano, passed away April 2, 2022 at Connecticut Hospice after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Mary was born in Meriden on May 13, 1962, a daughter of the late Chester and Fernande (Palardy) Kaczenski.
She worked for the Wallingford Stop and Shop for 32 years where she made countless lifelong friendships. Mary enjoyed going out on the boat fishing with her family, playing fetch with her dog, Deacon, and getting lost in a myriad of books.
She had the most beautiful soul with an unmistakable laugh that you can hear a mile away. During her battle with cancer, Mary fought hard while keeping an incredibly positive attitude. She was the definition of a true warrior, and an inspiration to all.
In addition to her companion, Jerry, she is survived by her son, Robert Rys Jr. and his wife, Becky; her daughters, Aimee Penna and her husband, Lou, and Kimberly Rys; her sisters, Judi Carlson, Carol Buzash and Diane Gawel; her brothers, David and Thomas Kaczenski; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Kristan Anziano.
Mary’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 9 am until 12 pm.
Her funeral service will be held at 12 pm in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
