Obituary: Pasquale “Patsy” D’Alessandro, 82, formerly of Meriden
Pasquale, a highly skilled tailor, known as a "master of the craft", owned and operated D'Alessandro's Tailoring in Cheshire.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Pasquale “Patsy” D’Alessandro (82) of Middletown, CT, formally of Meriden, left this life after a brief illness on November, 17, 2021 with family and caregivers at his bedside.
Born on February 23,1939 in Pacentro, Italy, the second of four boys of Valerio and Anna (Agostinelli) D’Alessandro, Pasquale came to America after marrying Gina DiBacco on October 6, 1963.
The two settled in Meriden to build a life together while raising four children of their own.
Pasquale was a highly skilled tailor, a “master of the craft”, having received vocational training from local monks at a monastery in Italy.
He could take client’s measurements and make any suit requested without the aid of preformed patterns.
After establishing himself in Meriden, he quickly became known for his exceptional tailoring abilities and was sought after by many fine men's clothiers in the area to include Harry Israel’s, Weiner’s, Regal Men’s, and Hutton’s.
He was a perfectionist at the trade, as the fit and finish of his work was highly valued by shop owners and their customers.
He had the ability to distinguish well manufactured suits by looking at the stitching and pinching the material to test the quality of the fabric.
He eventually opened his own shop, D’Alessandro’s Tailoring in Cheshire. Beyond men’s clothing, he took on many unique and complex projects at customers’ requests to include elaborate window drapery, women’s formal wedding and bridal gown alterations with custom embroideries, and one unique request by a local golfing enthusiast to create pants made from a roll of kilt plaid purchased in Scotland.
He served his own customers for many years until he was stricken by debilitating illness his fine motor skills.
In addition to the many years that he served as a tailor; Pasquale also worked for the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company as an inspector of internal jet engine parts.
In that role, he brought the same perfectionist, skill and analysis to inspect parts that required extremely tight tolerances.
He often spoke of his responsibilities at P&W with pride and was very proud to be part of a great American institution that provided for him and his family.
Pasquale was also a talented musician, having a keen ear for music, and played the accordion and keyboard. For a period of time, he was part of an Italian band and spent many hours playing for his family and friends over the years. He truly enjoyed bringing happiness to others while playing music.
Pasquale leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Gina, their four children Anna Tiezzi and husband, Daniel, of Higganum, Paolo D’Alessandro and wife, Parul, of Southington, David D’Alessandro and wife, Kimberly, of Glastonbury and Christina D’Alessandro of Wallingford.
Several grandchildren, to include Zachary and Benjamin Tiezzi, Julia, Jacob, Isabella, Nicholas, Joshua and Dominic D’Alessandro.
Several other family members, Maria Pace and family from Rocky Hill, Aldo DiBacco and family from Southington and John DiBacco and family from Cheshire, several other nieces and nephews. Close cousins Violetta Spaventa and family from New Jersey and Mario Agostinelli from Florida.
He also leaves behind his brother Luigi D’Alessandro and wife Anna of Pacentro Italy and their family, youngest brother Atillio D’Alessandro of S. Meriden and his family. Pasquale was predeceased by his eldest brother Mario D’Alessandro of Buffalo, N.Y.
Pasquale’s family wish to thank all the staff members of Wadsworth Glen and Middlesex Health Hospice of Middletown for all the compassionate care provided to Pasquale during the last years of his life.
