Obituary: Rosetta T. Rikard, 84, of Meriden

Rosetta, lovingly known as "Nana" to many, worked in education for many years and was remembered for her kindness and caring personality.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Meriden Memorial Funeral Home) Rosetta T. Rikard, 84, loving wife of the late Alphonso Rikard Jr., passed away peacefully, Monday, August 23, 2021 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Rosetta was born in Lexington, Virginia, September 20, 1936, the daughter of the late James Mills and Lula (Watts) Mills. Upon receiving her Associates Degree, Rosetta was employed within the Maryland Education System until her retirement.

She was affectionately known as “Nana” to many and will be remembered for her kindness in opening her heart and home to anyone in need. Rosetta was a member of New Gethsemane Deliverance Outreach Ministries in Meriden.

She leaves to cherish her memory three loving children, Arlise Rikard, Alphonso Rikard and Kimberly Rikard all of Meriden and originally of Baltimore, Maryland; her grandchildren Sean Bell, Alphonso Rikard IV, Shakeya Rivera, Raymond Smith, Alicia M. Rikard, Shawn Hutchins II, Briana Hutchins, Alsanti Rikard, Destiny Hutchins; and 14 great grandchildren.

Rosetta’s family will hold a private ceremony to celebrate her life and legacy.
