Obituary: Sgt. Jerry J. Cotto-Baez Vecchitto, 24, of Meriden
Sergeant Vecchitto, a loving son, husband, brother and friend, was a proud and decorated U.S Marine, serving as an Intelligence Specialist.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Meriden Memorial Funeral Home) Sergeant Jerry J. Cotto-Baez Vecchitto, U.S. Marine Corps, 24, of Meriden Connecticut passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, 26 March 2022 in Carlsbad, California. His beloved wife, Yarivette Castro, survives him.
Born on 10 June 1997 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, he is the son of Anthony Vecchitto and Milagros “Milly” Baez. Jerry grew up in Meriden and was a graduate of H.C Wilcox Technical High School, class of 2015.
Jerry an active-duty U.S. Marine, proudly served his country for over 6 1/2 years as an Intelligence Specialist.
An active person and outdoorsman, Jerry’s passions included hiking, hunting, and spending time at the firing range with his father.
He especially enjoyed listening to music, some of his favorite artists included Eminem, and Bad Bunny. Jerry loved taking long drives exploring our beautiful country. A loving husband, son, brother, and friend, Jerry will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife Yarivette, he is survived by his sisters: Rosie Vecchitto-Baez, Joyce Vecchitto both of Meriden; three nieces: Xolani Booker, Leia and Ava Medrano, his faithful companion, his dog brontes, and numerous cousins and friends. Jerry was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Francis and Beverly Vecchitto and his dear cousin Francis R. Vecchitto, III.
Jerry’s faithful dedication to his country and professional achievement in superior performance granted him multiple personal awards consisting of 2 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, 2 Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
