Obituary: Sgt. Robert B. (Pito) Rosa, 42, of Meriden

Sgt. Rosa was a proud and decorated U.S. Army veteran until retirement and a member of the American Legion Post 132 in Franklin, New Jersey.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Meriden Funeral Home) Sgt. Robert B. Rosa (Pito) 42, beloved husband of Zilkia Yanis Rosa, of Killeen, TX passed away on April 8, 2022.

Born on July 15, 1979 in Meriden CT, he is the son of Evelyn Lopez and the late Roberto Rosa. Robert grew up in Meriden and was a graduate of Platt High School, Class of 1999.

He entered the military in 1999 and proudly served in the United States Army until his retirement. Robert served 3 Combat Tours in Iraq with the 1st Calvary Division out of Fort Hood Texas, 1 year in Korea and 3 years in Germany.

He was awarded AAM 8 times, Good Conduct Medal 5 times, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon 2 times, Combat Action Badge, Expert Rifle Marksman, Driver and Mechanic Badge.

Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 132, Franklin, NJ.
Robert is survived by his two stepchildren: Daniel Malave and Ivan Perez; three brothers: Daniel Rosa, Anthony Rosa, Vidal Acosta; his grandmother Carmen Judy Lopez; his aunt and uncles: Lucy Lopez & Arnaldo Acevedo, Iris & Kenneth Martinez and numerous cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Severino Lopez and his aunt, Migdalia Lopez.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden and pay their respects from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
