Steven, affectionately known as "Bun", was a devoted family man and cherished spending time with loved ones.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Steven C. Szamier, 62, of Meriden, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, September 7, 2021.
Steven was born on March 2, 1959, a son of the late Laurel (Horton) Szamier O’Brien and the late Donald Szamier Sr.
He will be sadly and sorely missed by all who love him.
Steven, who his family affectionately called “Bun”, will be remembered for his sense of humor and the love he had for his family.
Bun found his greatest joy in being with the ones he loved, bantering with his niece and nephews, and cracking open a cold bottle of Pepsi.
His contagious laugh will forever be missed. Bun is survived by the love of his life and fiancée, Janice Trautner, his brothers, David Szamier, Donald Szamier Jr., his sister, Susan Perry and her husband Jesse all of Meriden; his two cousins Rodney and Cynthia Thomas, who he had many good times with; his nephew and nieces, Donald III, Barbie, Tanya, Paul, Heather, Timothy Jr., and Joey Lynn, Olivia, Sofia and Kaiden; and several cousins. Besides his parents Donald and Laurel, Bun was predeceased by his brother and partner in crime, Joseph Szamier, whom we all know was waiting at the gates with open arms; his brother-in-law Timothy Rasted Sr; his sister-in-law Marion Szamier; and several aunts and uncles.
The family would like to give a special thank you to his nurse Karen Aresco.
A graveside service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden at 12 pm on Friday, September 17th.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home.
