Obituary: Thomas F. Boshuyzen, 64, of Meriden

Tom worked for Canberra Industries of Meriden for over 30 years. He was a proud Navy veteran, dedicated family man and avid golfer.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Thomas F. Boshuyzen, 64, of Meriden, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the loving husband of Deborah (Rusate) Boshuyzen.

He was born in Springfield, MA, March 4, 1957, a son of the late Franciscus T. and Phyllis (Lavin) Boshuyzen and was a U.S. Navy veteran; a missile fire control system tech aboard the USS Lafayette.

He had been employed by Canberra Industries of Meriden where he spent over 30 years in various roles but was known for his integrity and mentorship.

Tom was an avid and competitive golfer, winner of the 2000 Meriden City Championship and participant in the 2010 NEPL Team Championship representing Hunter Golf Club.

His passion for golf was only eclipsed by his love for family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Deborah, he is survived by his sons, Matthew Boshuyzen and his wife Allison Bombard, Michael Boshuyzen and his wife Megan, and Thomas Boshuyzen; his grandchildren, Mia and Oliver Boshuyzen; his siblings and their spouses, Sharon and Ralph Esempio, Phyllis and Michael Sullivan, Patricia and Clark Maynard, Barbara Meehan, and Timothy and Renee Boshuyzen.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Melissa Rose Heagerty.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext, on Wednesday, January 5th, from 10 to 11:30 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:30 am.

Interment with military honors will follow at the State Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Melanoma Program Fund at Smilow Cancer Hospital.
